Jumanji | "Nós vamos honrar Robin Williams e o personagem", diz The Rock

Em um recente post no Instagram, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson falou sobre seu envolvimento com Jumanji, e com a importância de honrar Robin Williams, astro do original.

And the #JUMANJI magic begins. Excellent meeting with our director Jake Kasdan, producer Matt Tolmach, and our @SevenBucksProd team to work on our new re-imagining of this amazing story. I felt like in order to craft something cool we should begin where it all started. Award winning writer Chris Van Allsburg’s source material of JUMANJI. Chris also wrote THE POLAR EXPRESS (later adapted by Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks) and has a very special & magical way of storytelling. I’m feelin’ good and confident stepping into these shoes as a producer as well as actor to bring you something great that you and your entire fam can enjoy. An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of “Alan Parrish” will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud. I also think Robin is somewhere lookin’ down and laughing, remembering the first time we met backstage and I (for the first time ever) was a star struck bumbling idiot that couldn’t even get my words out. Idiot. He literally calmed me down w/ that smile and laugh. But that’s for another fun story down the road. We got a great team assembled already over at our home base of SONY and now we build from here. Here’s another fun part… in the original movie there were three big roles. In our new story there’s now FIVE. Been so damn cool to see all my actor buddies push their projects aside so hopefully they can come play in our world. Na foto, o ator aparece com o livro original em que a história foi inspirada nas mãos, e se diz comprometido em honrar o material original (do mesmo autor responsável por O Expresso Polar, adaptado por Robert Zemeckis e Tom Hanks) tanto quanto o filme dos anos 90.

Falando sobre Robin Williams, The Rock escreve. “O amor e respeito que sinto por esse homem não tem limites. Vocês tem minha palavra, nós vamos honrar o nome dele e o personagem Alan Parrish será para sempre imortalizado no mundo de Jumanji de um jeito legal e e honesto. Eu tenho uma ideia do que fazer e eu acho que a família dele ficará orgulhosa. Também acho que Robin está em algum lugar olhando e rindo, se lembrando da primeira vez em que nos encontramos nos bastidores, e eu fiquei totalmente sem palavras”.

Sony marca estreias de Jumanji, A Torre Negra, Uncharted e mais 

Não há notícias sobre a suposta participação de Kevin Hart no filme, como haviam indicado rumores anteriores. Jake Kasdan, responsável pelas comédias Professora Sem Classe e Sex Tape: Perdido na Nuvem, fechou contrato com a Columbia Pictures para dirigir o remake. A informação veio do Hollywood Reporter.

Scott Rosenberg (Con Air – A Rota da Fuga, 60 Segundos) escreveu o roteiro, que passou pelas mãos de Zach Helm (Mais Estranho que a Ficção), Chris McKenna (Community) e Jeff Pinkner (A 5ª Onda).

O remake de Jumanji tem estreia programada para 28 de julho de 2017.

Estrelado por Robin Williams e uma jovem Kirsten Dunst, o longa original de 1995 foi baseado no livro de Chris Van Allsburg sobre duas crianças que, ao libertarem um homem preso em um jogo de tabuleiro há décadas, também acabam soltando no mundo real as criaturas selvagens do game.
